Each one’s different, depending on who the writer is, but the idea is simple.
Together with other guests, you take turns reading aloud from an author’s new book – in the company of the author themselves.
The writer will have chosen which part of the book they want to read and they’ll start the event off by reading some of their work aloud.
Before the event, we’ll send you a Word document with a short section of the book. That will be your part. (Don’t worry. It’s not too long. It’ll probably be somewhere between a hundred and a hundred and fifty words long. It’ll include the paragraphs before yours so you know when to start.)
Together, passing the story around the virtual room, we’ll read the writer’s work. It’s a unique way of getting inside the book to get a privileged insight into how the author has built their story – and it’s also great fun.
Afterwards there’s time to ask the author a few questions. And if you’ve bought a copy of the book, the writer can sign a bookplate for you.
Our books are supplied by Bert’s Books. You’ll receive your book and bookplate after the event. Because we need to match the signed bookplates to the books and send you them together, it can take up to ten days for the books to arrive.
